Function Health Review 2026: Is It Worth It, Marker by Marker?

Function Health costs a year, what it measures once calculated ratios are removed, which lab runs it, privacy, NY and NJ fees, and when ordering yourself is cheaper.

Quick answer
Function Health costs $365 a year and measures 99 distinct markers by our count, about $3.69 per measured marker. That makes it one of the cheapest broad panels per marker we track, but not the cheapest, and New York and New Jersey members pay a lab fee on top. Prices and lists were read on October 31, 2026 from Function's own pricing page.

Below: what you pay all in, what the "160+ lab tests" really counts, who runs the samples, what the privacy policy allows, and when ordering tests yourself costs less. Our full scorecard is on the Function Health review page, and every plan we track is ranked on the best blood tests page.

What Function costs, all in

What Price Source
Membership, two draws a year "Charged annually at $365" Function pricing
New York and New Jersey "Testing in New York and New Jersey can cost more due to state regulations." Function FAQ
Annual MRI (member add-on) "available to Function members for $999" Function FAQ
At-home draw Offered; fee not published Function pricing

The yearly price is the whole bill for most members. The membership renews at the then-current price, and Function says it "does not offer refunds for prior payments" (Function FAQ). Its terms say that in some states, "including, without limitation, New York and New Jersey", some or all lab fees are not part of the subscription (Function terms of service). Function does not publish that amount. Figures in circulation range widely, and none comes from Function itself, so we do not quote one.

Function is not sold in Rhode Island or Hawaii. Its FAQ says it is offered "across 48 states (but not yet Rhode Island, Hawai'i, or Puerto Rico)" (Function FAQ). Our state pages show who sells where.

Measured, calculated and claimed

Function markets "160+ lab tests". That number adds the mid-year retest to the yearly draw: Function's FAQ says members "start with 100+ tests at your annual visit, and follow up with 60+ tests 3-6 months later" (Function FAQ).

We mapped Function's published list to one set of marker names, merged percent and absolute white-cell lines, and set aside values that are calculated from other results. That leaves 99 measured markers in one person's yearly panel. The lines Function itself labels as calculated are shown separately in our biomarker coverage table.

Count Number Basis
Function's headline 160+ Both draws counted
Lines on its list About 115 Its what-we-test page
Measured, our count 99 Distinct markers, calculated values removed
Cost per measured marker $3.69 Yearly price divided by measured markers

Counting matters in this market because it is contested. In January 2026 Function sued Superpower, alleging that Superpower's "100+ biomarkers" claim includes ratios that are "simply derivative data that are created by recombining existing lab values into ratios or indices" (ArentFox Schiff). We apply the same rule to every plan, Function included. The side-by-side is in our Function vs Superpower guide.

Our #1 pick
Function Health
9.0/10Excellent
$365 /yr
  • Names its lab (Quest Diagnostics)
  • Clinician review
  • 48 states (not RI, HI)

What it includes that others often skip

Function's base list includes ApoB, Lp(a), fasting insulin, an omega-3 measure, lead and mercury, thyroid antibodies, and PSA for men or AMH for women. Several of these are add-ons or missing elsewhere: Superpower sells Lp(a) and homocysteine as add-ons, and lab-store panels at Quest and Labcorp leave out Lp(a). Function tests methylmalonic acid, a B12 marker, rather than vitamin B12 itself. Each marker's coverage, plan by plan, is on its own page, for example ApoB and Lp(a).

Who runs the samples, and who reads them

Draws happen at Quest. Function says: "We partner with Quest for easily accessible labs (2,000+ locations across the US)" (Function FAQ). Function's own pages do not use the words CLIA or CAP; Quest's labs are CLIA-certified, and you can check any lab on the CMS QCOR CLIA lookup.

On review, Function's pricing page says "Clinicians review every result and flag issues" (Function pricing). Lab and medical services come from independent practices; Function says it is not itself a lab or a medical provider.

Privacy

Function's privacy policy says: "HIPAA does not apply to all personal information that we process." (Function privacy policy). The same policy says it creates aggregated and de-identified data and needs your authorization to use health data for marketing. Read it before you connect results to outside apps.

When ordering yourself is cheaper

If you want ten or so common tests once a year, a lab-test store can cost less than the membership. Our cheapest full panel guide prices an 11-test core panel store by store, and the build-it-yourself table shows it next to Function. Function wins when you would use the breadth: Lp(a), insulin, metals, antibodies and the second draw.

Our verdict

Function is a fair price for the breadth if you live outside New York and New Jersey and want two draws a year with a clinician summary. Its score, worked out from five published criteria, is on the review page; see how we score. Buy it for the list, not the "160+" number.
