The rest of this page compares the two line by line: what each measures, what each costs where you live, who runs the samples and what the privacy terms say. Both reviews are on the site (Function, Superpower), and the live side-by-side is on our comparison page.

Superpower's own FAQ lists where it is not yet available: "We are not yet available in: Alaska, Arkansas, Hawaii, Louisiana, Mississippi, North Dakota, Rhode Island, South Dakota, and Wyoming." (Superpower FAQ). Function's says it is offered "across 48 states (but not yet Rhode Island, Hawai'i, or Puerto Rico)" (Function FAQ).
Measured versus claimed
Both companies count generously, in different ways. Function's "160+" adds the mid-year retest to the yearly panel. Superpower's "100+" includes many values calculated from other results: cholesterol ratios, inflammation indices and similar. In our mapping, about 35 of Superpower's Baseline lines are calculated, against 15 at Function.
That gap is the subject of a lawsuit. In Function Health v. Superpower (C.D. Cal. No. 2:26-cv-00810, filed January 26, 2026), Function alleged that Superpower's count is padded with "simply derivative data that are created by recombining existing lab values into ratios or indices" (ArentFox Schiff). Superpower calls the claims baseless, and we could not confirm the case's current status on the docket. We take no side; we apply one counting rule to every plan, shown on our biomarker page.

Price where you live
Outside New York and New Jersey, Superpower is the cheaper membership. In those two states Superpower's checkout lists a separate product at a higher price, and Function says "Testing in New York and New Jersey can cost more due to state regulations." (Function FAQ) without giving a number. Our cost chart on the home page reprices both for NY and NJ.
Both add an at-home draw for a fee shown only at booking.
Refunds and renewal
Superpower's membership agreement adds a one-time refund: "We will refund one hundred percent (100%) of the Base Membership Fee paid for your Initial Term" (Superpower membership agreement), with conditions on timing. Its FAQ still says no refunds, so read the agreement in force when you buy. Function's FAQ says it "does not offer refunds for prior payments" (Function FAQ). Both renew yearly.
Privacy
Function's policy says "HIPAA does not apply to all personal information that we process." (Function privacy policy). Superpower's agreement lets it "use or disclose such de-identified information for any purpose." (Superpower membership agreement). Neither is unusual for this market, and both are worth reading.
Which to pick
Choose Function if you want the broader list, Lp(a), insulin and metals included, and two draws a year. Choose Superpower if you want the lower yearly price and a single comprehensive draw, or you live in New York or New Jersey and want a published price. If neither fits, the best blood tests ranking and the price table list every option.
For each one on its own, read our Superpower review and Function Health review; for a third option, see the InsideTracker review. What each policy allows with your data is in our blood test privacy guide.
