Cost

Quick answer
An ApoB test costs least on its own at lab-test stores, from about twenty dollars at Marek Diagnostics to the low sixties at Labcorp, and Quest sells it only inside a larger heart panel. Most longevity memberships include it, starting with Superpower at $199 a year. Prices were read on October 31, 2026.

ApoB (apolipoprotein B) is the main protein on LDL and other cholesterol-carrying particles, one per particle. This page covers where to get it measured and what that costs, not what a result means: that is for a clinician. The live price table is on our ApoB page, and every plan is ranked on the best blood tests page.

Labcorp showed a 25% October sale on the day we checked; we list the regular price. Quest did not sell ApoB on its own in a search of its store, only inside its Advanced Heart Health panel, which also includes a lipid panel.

Measured or estimated?

An estimated ApoB is a number worked out from a standard lipid panel with an equation, not a separate measurement. Maximus labels its Optimal panel's line "Estimated ApoB (Hwang Equation)" on its labs page. We count estimated values as calculated, not measured, everywhere on this site, so a plan cannot add a marker by adding a formula.

Cheapest route, by situation

  • You want only ApoB: a lab store. Ulta adds a standard draw fee per collection; Marek is lower but adds a venipuncture fee on single tests. Mito is lowest on paper, plus a draw fee it shows only at checkout.
  • You want ApoB with Lp(a) and a lipid panel: buy the three at the same store in one order, so one fee covers all three. Our Lp(a) page lists Lp(a) prices the same way.
  • You want a broad yearly panel anyway: a membership that measures ApoB, priced per measured marker on our price page.

Where you cannot order it yourself

Lab stores do not sell in New York, New Jersey or Rhode Island, where direct-access testing is restricted; our guide to ordering your own blood test explains why. Memberships that measure ApoB, such as Superpower and Empirical Health, do sell in New York and New Jersey, at higher published prices there.

ApoB's partner heart test has its own price guide: Lp(a) test cost.

Questions

FAQ

How much does an ApoB blood test cost?

On its own, from about twenty to seventy dollars at lab-test stores, before any per-order fee; the full table above links each price. Quest sells it only inside a larger heart panel.

Can I get an ApoB test without a doctor?

Yes, in most states, through a lab store or membership that supplies the physician order. Not in New York, New Jersey or Rhode Island through lab stores.

Is ApoB part of a standard cholesterol test?

No. A standard lipid panel reports total, LDL and HDL cholesterol and triglycerides. ApoB is a separate test, and some panels estimate it by formula instead.

Which blood test memberships include ApoB?

Superpower, Function Health, Empirical Health, Labs by Hims, InsideTracker, SiPhox, Mito and Marek panels among them. Everlywell 360 and Ulta's Baseline panels do not.

Does insurance cover an ApoB test?

That depends on your plan and your clinician's order. The services on this page are self-pay; most accept HSA or FSA cards.

What should my ApoB be?

We do not publish target levels. Ranges vary by lab and method, and what a number means for you is a question for your clinician.
